My name is Matthew Green and I am the CEO at tmGroup, based in Swindon, England. I have been the CEO here for 7 months and prior to that I worked for CoStar Group for 21 years, finishing there as the European MD of their commercial real estate data and online marketplace division covering UK, Spain, France and Germany.

I am the CEO at tmGroup in the UK. tmGroup is a key provider of searches, identity checking and technology solutions to the UK legal industry, specifically the conveyancing sector of that industry.

What is the #1 reason why you joined AURELIUS?

The CEO opportunity at the portfolio company, combining technology and data and with an ambition to grow the business, was a very attractive one.

Describe your job

Given that we are an extremely customer-focussed provider in the industry, I spend a lot of time meeting with customers, hearing about their challenges and discussing how tmGroup can help. Interacting with the client base is probably my favourite part of the role, partly because conversations with them are always valuable. These interactions help set direction, validate what we are already doing, and provide important market information. The industry as a whole is very friendly and so it is not a challenge to get those meetings. I also really enjoy working with our internal teams on various projects, collaboration is a critical part of our success and the company is full of talented individuals who are all passionate about tmGroup and our market.

Best thing about AURELIUS

I really like the focus AURELIUS puts on operational support and the investment the group makes into support leading leaders within their businesses. I have felt extremely well supported in this regard from day 1. I also think the group is very good at seeking ways to apply knowledge gained in one area or portfolio company to another which means portfolio companies benefit in ways they might not have done if they were not part of a portfolio.

Personal statement

When I am not at work, I spend time with my wife and three children (aged between 11 and 20). I am also a volunteer rugby coach at youth level, working with 11-year olds at improving their game and making sure they enjoy the sport. I am also a trustee for a local community services charity in my village.

Working closely with our customers and teams is what drives me every day.
